The family of the late iconic Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor—affectionately known across Africa as Mr Ibu—has made a passionate and emotional public appeal for financial assistance, revealing that they have been plunged into extreme hardship since his passing.

The actor’s widow, Stella Maris Okafor, during an interview with punch broke down as she detailed the grim everyday realities her family is currently facing.

The grieving family is reportedly struggling to afford basic daily upkeep, unpaid house rent, and school fees for the children.

According to Stella Maris, the family’s living conditions have deteriorated rapidly. She revealed that they have been living without electricity for roughly two months after the local distribution company cut off their power supply due to accumulated, unpaid utility bills.

“We fetch water from the well,” Stella Maris shared tearfully during the interview. “Because I have not paid the house rent. And they have even cut my lights for two months now. No lights since. We have been like that. Every night we go to look for a place to charge our phones. It’s not easy.”
