Oyogist.com has learned that the Lagos State Government on Friday ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, Lekki, following the investigation into the death of Sylvester Oromoni, a student of the school, Oyogist.com reports.
Sylvester Oromoni, 12 years old allegedly died after being tortured by some fellow students of the school who was forcing him to belong to a cult organization in the school.
It was gathered that he was also forced to drink an unknown substance which caused his mouth to peel in a video of him on internet showing his deplorable stated before he passed away.
The school had earlier on released a statement debunking the allegations made by his relatives as they claimed Sylvester only injured himself why playing football.
As people weighed in to the case and asked for action to be taken to find out the real cause of his death, the federal Government has also asked for indefinite closure of the school.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, of the Lagos State Ministry of Education.
The statement read, “The Lagos State Government has ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, Lekki, pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a student of the school.
Commissioner for Education Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo announced the closure after a meeting with the School Management and Staff.
“The Commissioner called for calm, saying no effort will be spared in getting to the root of the incident.”
