EFCC arrests Father and Son over alleged internet Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),Lagos Zonal office have arrested father, Isa Bola Bakare, and his son, Malik Giles Bakare, about an alleged computer fraud conspiracy, Oyogist.com reports.

Malik Giles was gathered to have been arrested on 31st May,2021 by Nigerian police officers, Force CID, Alagbon in Lagos and handed over to the EFCC.

During the course of investigation the father came to claim ownership of the Range Rover,one of the items recovered from Malik worth over 46 million.

Isa Bole failing to provide a satisfactory way in which the Range Rover was acquired was arrested too and kept in custody by EFCC.

Father and Son are currently being investigated for alleged case of conspiracy, computer-related fraud ,obtaining money under a false pretext and keeping the proceeds from illegal activities.

In a statement released on Wednesday, EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren said Malik acted as the “middle man” between fraudsters.

“He connects internet scammers around the world with selectors and gets a percentage on every successful transaction,” it read.

Items seized from the suspects include the vehicle, an iPhone 12 Pro Max, an iPhone 8 and “certain compromising items”.
