According to reports reaching oyogist.com, London would have to move into its highest tier of COVID-19 restrictions, following the incessant increase in the number of cases recorded in the country.

Government officials made this known during an official address yesterday, making reference to the rise in infection rates London is currently struggling to curtail.

“Over the last week, we’ve seen very sharp, exponential rises in the virus across London, Kent, parts of Essex and Hertfordshire,” Hancock said during a press briefing.

“We do not know the extent to which this is because of the new variant, but no matter its cause, we have to take swift and decisive action,” he said, announcing that the entire capital and some neighbouring areas would go into “High Alert” level.

The tougher Tier 3 restrictions will start in the capital from 0001 GMT on Wednesday.
