Nigerians on twitter have dragged the President of African Development Bank, Mr Akinwumi Adesina on his recent post on twitter defending allegated Gowon by British MP.

He posted that: “Be careful of misinformation! H.E. General Yakubu Gowon, Nigeria’s former Head of State, is a man of great honour, decency, honesty, amazing simplicity, humility and integrity. I know him. A great and admirable elder statesman of Nigeria. His honesty and integrity are impeccable.”

“I wish you hadn’t made this tweet. The General has enough resources to publicly refute the allegation and even sue the MP if he’s being accused falsely. It’s going to 72hours and not a word from him?”

Twitter users frown at this statement of he’s by giving series of comment. Parts of the comments people made are stated below.

“Decency, Great leader, Humility & Gowon in same sentence!

Like the 3 million civilians killed in Biafra war NEVER happened???

Please don’t try to truncate our history with this Okoto meow. Let Gowon sue the UK lawmaker that started the story. Focus on AfDB, you are not his PA!” @Tutsy22

Also, people made jest of the post by inscribing the names of notorious thieves in replace of Gowon’s name as Mr Adesina wrote it. Some of it are;

“Be careful of misinformation! H.E Evans Onwuamadike, Nigeria’s former Head of head, is a man of great honour, decency, honesty, amazing simplicity, humility and integrity. I know him. A great and admirable elder statesman of Nigeria. His honesty and integrity are impeccable” @Chude

“Be careful of misinformation! Lawrence Anini, Nigeria’s former Head of state, is a man of great honour, decency, honesty, amazing simplicity, humility and integrity. I know him. A great and admirable elder statesman of Nigeria. His honesty and integrity are impeccable.”
