OYOGist.com has learned that the International Criminal Court has started an investigation into the shooting of the End SARS Protesters at the Lekki Toll Plaza.
The ICC, International Criminal Court has published that it’s performing a preliminary probe into the last End SARS protests that took place in Nigeria, BBC broadcasted this on Wednesday.
In an announcement, the office of the International Criminal Court prosecutor had before said it had collected some information on suspected crimes.
“The investigation will examine whether the legal standards for opening a probe under the Rome law are fulfilled.”
For some weeks, throngs of peaceful protesters assembled on highways in major cities of Nigeria to protest against the brutality of the police, which headed in a crackdown.
Association Amnesty Rights International announced that security operatives opened fire on the protesters, massacring and wounding a lot of them. Both the Nigerian police and the Nigerian army have dismissed the allegation from Amnesty.
The ICC announced it would make the outcomes of the preliminary investigation public.
