Information reaching OYOGist.com confirmed that the Lagos State Government has ordered an investigation into the shooting at the Lekki Toll Gate.
While peaceful protesters defied the 24-hr curfew that went into force by 9PM on Tuesday, men of the Nigerian Army arrived at the popular Lekki Toll Plaza and started shooting at unarmed protesters.
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had announced a 24-hr curfew that would take effect starting by 4PM on Tuesday, giving Lagosians 4 hours to go back in.
Hours later, an extension was announced, giving residents till 9PM, but it was already too late as soldiers had already barricaded the Lekki Toll Gate and started shooting.
The State Government announced an investigation into the shootings.
The announcement was made by the spokesperson for the Commission of information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, in a tweet shared on the Lagos State Government’s Twitter handle.
