Army Launches Exercise Crocodile Smile VI, Targets Cyberspace

The Nigerian army has revealed that the upcoming Operation Crocodile Smile will be to tackle cyber warfare and insurgency in the country, specifically in the Northeast part of the country where Boko Haram insurgents have caused a lot destruction in the country, oyogist.com reports.

According to a statement report on Saturday, the Acting Director Army Public Relations , Colonel Musa has revealed that this year’s Operation Crocodile Smile would start off on the 20th day of October till the 31sth day of December.

According to his statement which states that ” The exercise is intended to be all rounded, and will also include cyber warfare exercises which is designed to identify, track and also counter certain negative opinions on social media platforms and also across cyber space” stating that this is the first ever cyber warfare to be conducted ever in the history of the Nigerian armed forces”.

The exercise was also aimed at identifying Boko Haram’s terrorist fleeing from the North-east and other parts of Nigeria as a whole as a result of the ongoing operations in various areas of the state especially in the North-East, North – West and North – Central.
