According to report reaching OYOGist.com, the governor of Sokoto State Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has called for the investigation of one Baffa Hayatu Tafida, for allegedly filming himself sexually assaulting a girl and employing the video to destroy her wedding a few years later.
The suspect, who incidentally turned out to be the son of one the governor’s special advisers, was said to have lured the girl to a hotel where he allegedly carried out the crime. The incident was said to have occurred in 2017. The suspect years later shared the video with the girl’s suitors causing the cancellation of her proposed marriage.
Confirming the governor’s directive, the special assistant media and publicity Muhammed Bello clarified that the directive was for an investigation and not arrest.
He reportedly said that: ‘’He only urged they to investigate the case further and whoever is found wanting, the law should take its course, but he never directed them to make any arrest.’’
The mother of the victim appreciated the governor and the matter is now in the hands of the Nigerian police.
