Nigerian politician, Senator and former member of the 8th Nigerian National Assembly, Dino Melaye, has cried out on social media regarding the state of Kogi state economy, oyogist.com reports.
Dino, on Saturday morning, shared a screenshot of a 2019 detailed economic report highlighting performance of all 36 states of the federation. In the document, twenty three(23) states are on the surplus side while thirteen states(13) including Kogi state are on the deficit side.
However, the former lawmaker cried out following the development. Dino made a post on his official Facebook page to lament the situation. He pointed that, Lagos state has a deficit of ₦39B with a revenue of ₦516B while, Kogi has a deficit of ₦33B with a revenue of ₦68B. Reacting to the report, “We in Kogi are finished,” Dino lamented.
He posted: “Lagos State with revenue of 516 billion naira annually have a deficit of 39billion naira and Kogi with revenue of 68billion naira have deficit of 33billion naira. We in kogi are finished. SDM.”
Dino Melaye was a member of the 8th Nigerian National Assembly, representing Kogi West Senatorial district. Dino is a member of the People’s Democratic Party. In 2015 he defected to All Progressives Congress (APC) but returned to PDP in the buildup to 2019 elections after months of political struggle with Kogi State governor.
