According to reports, the 30-year old is determined on returning to Roma, and does not seem to have a future at Old Trafford under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

On his first season on loan at the Italian club, he became an important part of the team, making 30 appearances for the club and adding a positive change to the team, last season, after they finish fifth on the Serie A table.

On the departure of Chris Smalling, United are expected on bringing in, a new centre-back, before the end of the summer, with Ole Gunner Solksjear, still in talks with RB Leipzig, for Dayot Upamecano, believing it will give United the quality they need, on the defensive area.
