OYOGist.com has learned that Officers of the Lagos State Police command have allegedly arrested 3 suspects who claim to be members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) after two Beretta Pistols and live ammunitions were illegally found on them.

The suspects identified Dare Hassan, Clarkson Oritshejubemi and Ajanaku Azeez were also found with 41 rounds of live ammunitions. One of the suspects, Dare revealed that the trio purchased the Pistols for 500,000 Naira and the ammunitions for 100,000 Naira.

He allegedly revealed in his official statement, that the guns were meant for gang wars and not Armed robbery. According to him, they were often involved in gang wars and their oppositions often had an upper hand against them which prompted their decision to purchase guns.

The arrest was confirmed by Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bala Elkana who disclosed that the suspects were part of those who brew crises in Okokomaiko, Lagos State.

The PPRO however claims the suspects were arrested during a robbery attempt as opposed to the suspect’s statement. Bala Elkana revealed that the suspects made a robbery attempt at Ojo area where they were apprehended.

They will be charged to court at the end of the ongoing Investigation, Bala added.
