According to report reaching OYOGist.com, Professor Itse Sagay SAN, Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), has allegedly spoken up concerning the recent defection of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) party. The Chairman described this move by the former speaker as a big setback for the image of the party.

Recall that the Former Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, had defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019, during the general elections, and he has yet again been led by the Chairman of the party’s Caretaker Planning Committee Governor, Mai Mala Buni, to the State House today to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari today.

It was reported that Dogara had refused to speak to the State House newsmen l, concerning his decision to decamp to APC, but Mai Buni had mentioned AMD confirmed his defection notice to the public.

Thus, while Itse Sagay was addressing newsmen today, reacted to the defection, mentioning that APC, which is a ruling and principled party in Nigeria, should not have allowed the return of Dogara back into the party’s fold.

Explaining more on this, the chairman said: “For me, this is a big setback for the image of the APC. I think it’s an illustration of the fact that we are yet to adopt ideology and principles in our politics. Because if you have an ideology and philosophy, you won’t be hopping from one party to another.”

He also mentioned that this portrays a negative image of Nigeria and the Immature political parties, saying that nobody forced Dogara to decamp from the party in 2019 when he followed Bukola Saraki to PDP, why should he then be allowed to return back?
