Due to a circular issued on Friday by the Federal Government to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), directing all civil servants to submit themselves to undergo COVID-19 tests, tensions have gripped many civil servants already, oyogist.com reports.

Many civil servants have been reacting to the circular which the Head of Service of the Federation (HSF), Mrs. Foladade Yemi-Esan addressed to all the Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Agencies respectively,

Some civil servants considered the development as a contradiction to what the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 intially told the populace that people who have not been feeling the symptoms should desist from coming for the test and be wasting the tests kits, because it costs the Government minimum of #10,000 to test a person.

Others hold the opinion that they know people who had acute malarial who went for COVID-19 test and tested positive, and that the stigma of being postive to COVID-19 is worse than COVID-19 itself.

The circular which was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, Dr. Evelyn Ngige, stated that all MDAs should carry out COVID-19 tests for all civil servants, that the Federal Government has readily made provision for all the testing facilities to enable civil servants who are experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms and those wishing to get tested in all the MDAs to take advantage of the opportunity.
