It should be recalled that the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) successfully conducted its governorship primary election with Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) emerging the winner.

Jegede defeated seven other aspirants, including Agboola Ajayi, the deputy governor of Ondo state who recently dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to fight for the PDP’s ticket.

The senior lawyer, who had served as the Ondo state commissioner of justice and attorney-general, polled 888 votes to dislodge-Ajayi who polled 657 votes. Accepting the loss, The embattled deputy governor who is at loggerhead with his boss, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, said he put up a good fight but his best was not enough.

Agboola, who said he ‘had a lot of forces’ who stood against-him-in-the-shadow poll, however, Agboola said he accepted the outcome of the election in good faiths. ‘We remain undaunted and resolute about our commitment to a people-oriented government against-personalised democracy,’ Ajayi said.

“We wish the good people of Ondo State and the winner the best as we March on. For us, life goes on.”
