OYOGist.com has learned that former spokesman to Ex President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Reno Omokiri has once again reacted to the suspension of former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.
According to the statement he made on his verified Twitter handle, Mr. Omokiri said that every EFCC Chairman as always been disgraced out of office except Magu’s predecessor Ibrahim Lamorde who former President Goodluck Jonathan appointed.
The Social Media Influencer went further to state that it was during Ibrahim Lamorde’s tenure that Nigeria made her best improvement according to Transparency International rating.
Mr. Omokiri may be right considering the fact that Nigeria made a tremendous improvement according to corruption index during Goodluck Jonathan’s administration from the Transparency International rating then. This was as some Nigerians accused Goodluck Jonathan of running a corrupt government.
Since the establishment of the EFCC in 2004, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Farida Waziri, Ibrahim Lamorde and Ibrahim Magu have all head the anti-corruption agency established during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Its pioneer Chairman Mallam Nuhu Ribadu did a great job then by going after corruption government officials in Nigeria, but he was unceremoniously removed from office.
Ibrahim Magu is the latest now. He has been facing the Presidential Probe Panel headed by Justice Ayo Isa Salami over some corruption allegations levelled against him. Concerned Nigerians are waiting patiently to see the outcome of that probe.
