Governor Wike Warns People Of Rivers State Against Abuja and Lagos Visitors As Flight Resumes

OYOGist.com has learned that Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers state has issued a stern warning to all resident of Rivers State, asking them to have every visitor from the two states with the highest number of ovid-19 cases isolated for 14 days, in order to help checkmate the further spread of the virus in the state.

He made this statement seeing that the government has given domestic flights a green light to begin operations, stating also that there would be more visitors entering the state at this time.

Governor Wike who has been one of the most vigilant governors, making sure that all guidelines are well followed by the people of Rivers State to curb the spread of the virus, in a statement yesterday, through the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, called out the people of Rives state to show more vigilance at this point in time.

In parts, the statement read;

“The commencement of inter-state travels and domestic flights will increase the influx of persons from some of the most affected states, especially, Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory, and aggravate the risk of transmission of the virus in Rivers State.”

“Let me, therefore, appeal to residents to be cautious of relations, friends, business/social partners and visitors from such States and relate with them in conformity with the established protocols against the spread of this virus, including having them isolated for 14 days.”

Governor Wike also spoke about opening markets and all other public offices but maintained that, before all this come to light, the people of Rivers state must have followed all guidelines to help in curbing and totally stopping the spread of Covid-19.
