OYOGist.com has learned that the Gunners ladies have completed the signing of Australia goalkeeper Lydia Williams from Melbourne City. Lydia Williams has made the total of 88 appearances for the Matildas and the Australia goalkeeper has won been named Australia’s Women’s Footballer of the Year twice.
Lydia Williams is the Arsenal’s women second signing of the summer, the Gunners last week’s welcome the arrival of fellow Australian Steph Catley, who also joined the Gunners from Melbourne City in Australia.
Lydia Williams said she’s happy and glad to be given an opportunity to come over to England and play for Arsenal and with some of the best players in the world.
Lydia Williams also said she remember watching the Gunners as a young kid, so It’s amazing to be a part of this team. She also contimue; I can’t wait to meet all of my team-mates at the club.
The goalkeeper arrival at the club is the third Australia international for the Arsenal women, with forward Caitlin Foord having joined the club in January.
The Gunners Women finished the 2019-20 Women’s super League season in third Position after the campaign was curtailed by the coronavirus pandemic.
