A Fuji musician, Maroof Adebayo, on Thursday, appeared before a Kwara State Family Court in Ilorin over the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl hawking puff-puff.
The offence, according to the prosecution, is contrary to Section 31 of Kwara State Child Rights Law, 2005.
The Police First Information Report read in the court stated, “On June 1, 2020 at about 1400hrs, one Omotoso Tope ‘f’ aged 15 years of Ile Oba compound, Ojoku, Oyun Local Government Area, reported at Ilemona Police station that, on May 31, 2020 at about 1330hrs, while she was hawking snacks for her mother within Ojoku town, she was lured into a room by one Adebayo Moroof ‘m’ of Olokuta compound on the pretext of paying for the snacks he bought from her, only for him to forcefully have sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
“Discreet investigation conducted at the state Criminal Investigation Department, Ilorin revealed that the victim was lured into the room by the suspect where she was sexually molested without her consent.”

Meanwhile, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, on Friday, said he would distribute pepper spray to females in his domain against rapists.
The monarch, in a statement, expressed concern over incessant cases of rape, saying he would commence distribution of the items next Monday.
