The President has vowed to deal with bandits in Nigeria after the latter ramp up their operations in the Northern side of the country, leading up to the killing of scores of civilians, OYOGist.com has gathered.

The President offered Nigerians his assurance of more decisive military operations targeted at bandits in Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna and Niger States on Saturday.

The actions would take place “in the days ahead,” the President revealed.

In recent days, bandits have continued attacks on identified States within the Northern region of Nigeria, creating panic among the residents of the region.

The Governor of Kano State, Umar Ganduje had implored the Federal Government to ban the movement of herdsmen from Kaduna and neighboring countries into Nigeria in a bid to curb banditry within the region.

President Buhari said on Saturday that “the loss of lives from their (bandits) dastardly attacks is sad and regrettable.”

The President further assured Nigerians that these acts “intensifies our resolve to ensure these bandits are not spared.”

Earlier in the day, the President had warned bandits to surrender their weapons or “face disgraceful, violent end.”

Several homes and families have been displaced by the attacks of bandits on communities within states such as Katsina, where the Governor had earlier revealed that the bandits “betrayed” his trust when he negotiated with them to have peace.

President Buhari tweeted his resolve on Saturday night, days after another fresh attack was carried out by bandits in Katsina.
