OYOGist.com has learned that today, residents of the capital city of Rivers State were mostly in a shopping frenzy in what could be considered as “panic buying” to restock their homes with foodstuffs, medicines and other essential commodities following the resumption of the total lockdown that would be resumed tomorrow.
Recall that the state under the distinguish leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike had earlier imposed a rather strict lockdown on residents and activities in Port Harcourt and Obior/Apkor local government areas of the state to mitigate further spread of the ravaging coronavirus pandemic.

The lockdown was eased for two days to allow residents restock and get ready for the continuation of the now-normal lockdown of all commercial and social activities that would make people come outside of their homes.
Earlier today, shops, markets and businesses were opened and people thronged in their numbers to buy whatever they would need pending when next the total lockdown that would resume tomorrow is eased. Below are some pictures of buyers at the “NEXT cash and carry” mall in Port Harcourt.
