Police approves free movement for food transporters into Rivers state despite lockdown

OYOGist.com has learned that the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Joseph Gobum-Mukan has assured the free movement for those transporting foods items including livestock to Rivers State.

CP Gobum-Mukan said this during the inauguration of the Joint Technical Taskforce Team on Emergency Response to COVID-19 on Challenges on Movement of Food and Agricultural Inputs in the Country at the command headquarters on Moscow road, Port Harcourt.

The CP who is the state Chairman of the Taskforce Team, charged the members to ensure full compliance on the terms of reference by the federal government as he urged the members to deploy ways of ensuring that food items are made surplus and those conveying them move freely.

The State Coordinator of the Team, E Tobin heighlited the terms of reference to each of the various departments and groups in the team as he said everyone should be proactive for the interest of Rivers People.

Personnel from the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, All Farmers Association of Nigeria, National Union of Road Transport Workers, Nigeria Union of Journalist are represented in the Taskforce.

Other members of the team include: Representative from Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners and Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
