The Oyo State government, represented by the Oyo state road and transport management authority (OYRTMA), has issued a fourteen-day notice to transporters.

The notice was issued to operators of commercial transport such as tricycles, motorcycles, and all vehicles, mandating them to apply the state’s official transport colour or face sanctions.

The notice was issued at a stakeholders’ meeting in the state secretariat by the chairman of OYRTMA, Dr. Akin Fagbemi.

While discussing with stakeholders, Dr. Fagbemi hinted on plans to create designated routes for commercial transporters in the state in order to ensure orderliness and create ease of mobility.

When in effect, transporters will only operate within their designated routes.

Fagbemi also iterated that the new directive was geared towards ensuring adequate security in the state and stamp out imposters who would use public transport as a cover-up to commit various crimes.

The stakeholders and their associations were all in approval of the state government’s initiative towards security in the state and pledged their support and the compliance of their members to the policy within the given time-frame.
