Former U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly removed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem from her position following a tense and highly combative Senate hearing that drew national attention.
Sources familiar with the matter say the decision came shortly after Noem faced intense questioning from lawmakers over issues related to border security, immigration enforcement, and the administration’s national security policies.
During the hearing, senators from both parties pressed the Homeland Security chief on the department’s handling of recent border developments and internal policy decisions. Trump announced Senator Markwayne Mullin (Senate Representing Oklahoma) as her replacement. Noem is being moved to serve as Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, a new Security Initiative which was announced on Saturday in Doral, Florida.
