Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has revealed that the Nigerian government supplied intelligence to support the United States military strike carried out against ISWAP terrorists in Nigeria. Tuggar stated that the Nigerian authorities were fully briefed and engaged in real-time communication with Washington before the operation was executed.

According to the minister, Nigeria held two separate conversations with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the first 19 minutes before the strike, and the second five minutes before it commenced, underscoring that the action was not unilateral, but coordinated with Nigerian security and diplomatic channels.
Tuggar explained that the intelligence shared by Nigeria formed part of the operational framework that enabled the strike, adding that the collaboration demonstrates ongoing counter-terrorism partnership between both countries.
He further noted that Nigeria remains committed to working with international allies to weaken terrorist networks and prevent future attacks, while ensuring respect for sovereignty and strategic communication in joint security operations.
The statement comes amid growing debate over foreign military involvement on Nigerian soil and what it means for national security cooperation going forward.
