Chelsea defender, Andreas Christensen, has said life was difficult for him during the reign of Frank Lampard as the club’s manager.
He disclosed this while dropping a hint that he is set to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge after putting the ‘difficult period’ he endured under Lampard behind him.
Christensen, 25, who is a product of Chelsea academy, found himself on the periphery of the squad last season but has since established himself as a key player at the heart of Tuchel’s defence.
“I know a lot is being said right now. I can not say too much, but I think it looks good,” Christensen told Danish publication Ekstra Bladet.
“We have won the Champions League and the Super Cup.
“I am very happy to be at this club and feel Chelsea are the right place to be in England.
“I know Thomas Tuchel believes in me. I have also played a big role since he came.
“I had a very difficult period under Lampard, shortly before he was fired.
“Now luckily it’s going the right way for me. But yes, things can go fast in this world.
“The most important thing is just that I have never given up.”
