According to reports reaching Oyogist.com, 14 bandits have been reportedly killed following an attempted attack on a police station on Sunday morning.
Further information gathered has it that some suspected bandits were arrested by police on Saturday and detained in the station and it is suspected that the attack is in a bid to free them.
Spokesperson for Benue police, Catherine Anene, said in a statement that the gunmen numbering about 50 launched an attack in early hours of Sunday the police station at Katsina-Ala town of the State.
Anene further said that the Operatives at the police division, who were already on alert, engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle adding that 14 of the gunmen were killed at the end of the gun duel while others escaped with bullet wounds.
She further urged the local residents to cooperate with the police in providing useful information that could help in the arrest of the remaining bandits.
