The National coordinator, Concerned Advocate for Good Governance, (CAGG) Olusegun Bamgbose has reportedly informed Atiku Abubakar to back off from the 2023 presidential race, oyogist.com reports.
Recall that, Tanko Yakassai, one of the prominent northern politicians had earlier revealed that Bola Tinubu would be a better option for presidency comes 2023 general elections.
However, a group of other prominent politicians from the North including, Paul Nnongo, Balarabe Musa, Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai as well as present Senate President, Ahmad Lawan had declared their support for Southern leadership comes 2023.
Appreciating the above mentioned move, Tanko Yankassai appealed to Atiku Abubakar to back off from his ambitions in the 2023 general elections.
According to him, leaders like El-Rufai, Ahmad Lawan and the likes mentioned above have proven to be deserving of the respect of Nigerians for standing for what they feel is right, just and equitable.
He furthermore revealed how he was against the third term ambition of Olusegun Obansajo and that in 2015, he also supported Muhammadu Buhari because he felt that it will be unjust for a Notherner to hold on to power.
However, he appealed to Atiku to respect the opinion and views of the Northern people who believe in equity and also advised that he support a southerner in 2023 so that he can be remembered for good.
