President Muhammadu Buhari has advocated for the spirit of patriotism in Nigerian youths.
Speaking at the 44th convocation ceremony of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife on Saturday, the president represented by Suleiman Raman-Yusuf, the deputy executive secretary of National Universities Commission (NUC) charged the youths to stay back to build Nigeria.
“It is high time that universities took more proactive roles in ensuring that graduands performed more meaningfully in the world of works,” the president said.
“It is in view of this that we wish to exhort our youths to start looking inwards, stay and advance the cause of their motherland. We have no other country than Nigeria. We should remain here to salvage the country together.”
The President remarked that the future of the country lies in the value the youths are able to extract from the education system and also mentioned the importance of government funding in education.
The president emphasized the importance of improving internally generated reveneu (IGR) for the universities to enable them to create more condusive learning environment and develop sustainable education.
