According to report reaching OYOGist.com, there is a current uncertainty in Imo state as the federal high in Abuja is today set to hear the case brought before it by Kingdom Okere, to seeking judicial interpretation of the Supreme Court’s judgement on the case between Governor Hope Uzodinma and Uche Nwosu.
Barrister Okere, also prayed the court to authorize INEC to withdraw the certificate of return issued to the Governor and give a new one to Honorable Emeka Ihedioha.
Many are of the view that the case is dead on arrival, on the ground that election matters in the state has long been settled. But there are some that have argued that this may not be the case as the suit is seeking a judicial interpretation of a judgement already delivered.
Recall that the supreme court judgement on the case involving Uche Nwosu and Governor Hope Uzodinma over who is the duly nominated candidate of the APC for the 2019 governorship election Imo State went in favour of Uche Nwosu.
However, the January 14, 2020 Supreme Court judgement that sacked Honourable Emeka Ihedioha from office as the Governor and brought in Governor Hope Uzodinma was based on the claim that Governor Hope Uzodinma contested and won the election under the APC.
The case which will be heard today by the federal high court in Abuja, is expected to explain if Governor Hope Uzodinma was nominated by APC for the election, whether the APC sponsored Governor Hope Uzodinma in the election, whether Hope Uzodinma contested without being sponsored by any political party and also to explain whether the Nigerian constitution has been amended to allow an individual contest an election without being sponsored by any political party.
This recent development has created an atmosphere filled with uncertainty in Imo State as no one know for sure, what the outcome of the suit could be.
