According to reports reaching OYOGist.com, the House of Representatives has begun the rescue process of Lance Corporal Martins Idakpein, who has been in military detention for allegedly criticising the Chief of Army Staff and other service Chiefs over the continues killing of Nigerians by terrorists.
During the plenary session on Thursday, Ndudi Elumelu the Minority Leader, moved a motion to call for idakpein’s immediate release.
Lance Corporal ldakpein in a viral video has criticised the chief of army staff and other service chiefs over the poor handling of Boko haram insurgency in the northeast, idakpein was serving in the 8 Division, Sokoto of the Nigerian Army.
However, ldakpein was subsequently arrested and moved from Sokoto to Abuja. His wife, Victoria, was also arrested after calling for the release of her husband.
Lance corporal Martins Idakpein has been held in military detention uptill date and his wife who made attempt to rescue him was also detained but was released few hours ago according to reports.
Further speaking, Elumelu said, though the armed forces act section 122 forbids the perpetual detention of an officer.
Also the house asked that, Idakpein should be brought before the relevant committee and leadership to brief them of the happenings in the northeast.
