The Nigerian social media community expressed deep concerns for Seyitan’s safety and whereabouts when she was unusually silent on social media and started promoting Dbanj’s upcoming music album.
However, things started unraveling, early morning today (12:13 AM, 24th of June, 2020 NG time), when Wine and Whine, a winery in Nigeria, released statements from Seyitan Babatunde narrating the series of events that transpired following her rape accusation against the Dbanj.
Seyitan in her statement alleged that Dbanj influenced the men of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) to abduct her at her home after she hired a law firm to represent her.
While in police detention, Seyitan revealed that she was not charged with any crime by the police but was made to experience inhuman conditions as other criminals arrested.
Seyitan was subsequently allegedly kidnapped by Dbanj’s team and taken into an undisclosed hideout, where she was forced to sign a gag, recant her statement against Dbanj and further threatened.
Seyitan revealed that the efforts of well-meaning Nigerians and the Executive Director of Stand To End Rape Initiative (STER), led to the use of satellite imaging, which assisted in tracing her location and subsequent release on the 17th of June, 2020.
