OYOGist.com has learned that the Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has said that the construction of the 7.6 billion naira Farm Estates in Eruwa and Akufo will commence next month. Governor Makinde also hinted on his plan to launch support for 10,000 farmers across the state with different kinds of agricultural inputs this Wednesday.
Speaking through his Executive Adviser on Agribusiness, Dr. Debo Akande, in a chat with Noble FM’s correspondent, Micheal Oladejo, Governor Makinde noted that 14 local and international companies have shown interest in partnering with the state government on the Eruwa/Akufo Farm Settlement project.

He said further that 6 thousand hectares of land will be open to over 2thousand youths in Oke-Ogun, Ibarapa, Oyo, and Ogbomoso to cater for an increase in the request from the processing side, reduce the unemployment rate and boost the state food security.
He noted that the project is already being piloted at Awe in Oyo town where the government is using as incubation Center for thee over 2thousand youths.
He assured members of the public that measures are already in place to ensure that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the state agriculture is very minimal.
