Telefoot’s Abdellah Boulma has described Victor Osimhen’s transfer speculations to be erroneously overestimated.
Boulma revealed Chelsea’s bid for Osimhen is not the “€85m” some reports have claimed.
According to him, the bid came just a week after Lille president, Gerard Lopez claimed a €75m offer had arrived from an unnamed suitor.
Boulma wrote on social media: “The leaders of LOSC would have received an offer from Chelsea for the Nigerian international Osimhen.
“But the amount advanced of €85m is erroneous and greatly overestimated.”
The Nigeria international is expected to be cashed in by LOSC this summer after a superb first season in Ligue 1.
Osimhen, is expected to be a hot property across Europe in the next transfer window but Chelsea fans reading too much into reports from France around a big-money bid for the Lille striker may need to temper their excitement.
The Blues had watched the Nigeria striker closely and were impressed but Lille’s asking price of €85million remains too high.
Last week, French media suggested that an unnamed club had bid £75million for the 21-year-old and since then there have been further insinuations that the club was Chelsea.
Frank Lampard has previously said that Osimhen has “everything in his game” but reports of a £75million offer from Stamford Bridge appear wide of the mark.

That, however, is not to say Chelsea do not maintain interest.
Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United were also said to be keen on a player who scored 13 times in 25 Ligue 1 appearances before the campaign was brought to a premature end by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Nigeria international scored in Lille’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League group stages back in October and Lampard spoke highly of him in the immediate aftermath of that game.
Osimhen’s back story is also remarkable. Having lost his mother to illness as a toddler, he grew up selling bottled water on the streets of Lagos to earn money to feed the family.
