Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, visited the rescued victims at the 2 Division Nigerian Army Medical Services, Odogbo Barracks in Ibadan, where they are currently undergoing medical checkups and receiving care after spending a harrowing 57 days in captivity.
The governor confirmed that all 39 pupils and five out of the seven kidnapped teachers have been safely recovered and reunited with security forces.
Expressing his deep gratitude, Governor Makinde praised the Nigerian Army and collaborating security agencies for their bravery and relentless efforts in bringing the victims back alive.
However, the victory came at a heavy cost. Governor Makinde revealed that some security operatives tragically lost their lives during the high-stakes rescue mission.
He offered his heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen heroes, promising that their ultimate sacrifice for the state would never be forgotten.
