Former Rivers State Governor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 election, Rotimi Amaechi, has held a closed-door meeting with former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, in Abuja amid ongoing political consultations within the opposition party.

Although details of the meeting were not immediately disclosed, the development has sparked speculation about strategic plans being put in place by the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections. Political observers believe the meeting forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the party’s structures and build alliances ahead of the polls.

The meeting came shortly after the names of ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Amaechi, were uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal as part of preparations for the 2027 elections.

It also followed a recent ruling by a Federal High Court in Abuja affirming the leadership of former Senate President David Mark as National Chairman of the ADC, a decision viewed by party members as a boost to the opposition’s preparations for the next election cycle.

While the outcome of the Amaechi-Tambuwal talks remains unknown, the meeting underscores the growing political activity within the ADC as key figures continue consultations aimed at positioning the party as a formidable force in the 2027 presidential race.
