Governor Makinde’s Vision Transforms Oyo State into a Beacon of Urban Modernity
Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, has applauded Governor Seyi Makinde for his strategic investments that have elevated Oyo State into a leading example of urban modernization in Nigeria.
Ibadan Central Bus Terminal: A Landmark in Urban Infrastructure
During the inauguration of the newly completed Ibadan Central Bus Terminal located on Iwo Road, Bashorun Akinwole highlighted the terminal as a testament to the administration’s dedication to systematic urban renewal and infrastructural excellence.
Recognized as one of the most advanced transport hubs nationwide, the terminal features two expansive bus stations equipped with state-of-the-art amenities including spacious waiting lounges, dedicated ticketing counters, diverse food outlets, hygienic restrooms, elevators, escalators, a water storage system, ample parking spaces, and a reliable power generation facility.
Enhancing Urban Mobility and Economic Growth
Wolekanle emphasized that this development complements other significant transport projects initiated by the Makinde government, such as the terminals at Ojoo and Challenge, alongside an additional station also situated on Iwo Road.
These infrastructures are designed to streamline commuter flow, alleviate traffic bottlenecks, and stimulate commercial activities throughout Ibadan’s metropolitan area.
Commitment to People-Centered Development
He further commended Governor Makinde for his unwavering focus on development that prioritizes the welfare of residents, pledging the Local Government Service Commission’s ongoing support to realize the vision of a modern, well-organized Oyo State.
Looking Ahead: Sustaining Momentum in Urban Renewal
With Nigeria’s urban population projected to reach over 60% by 2030, initiatives like these are critical in ensuring sustainable city growth. Oyo State’s model under Governor Makinde’s leadership serves as an inspiring blueprint for other regions aiming to balance rapid urbanization with quality infrastructure and enhanced public services.
