Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari has assured south east residents and the entire Igbo nation at large that he won’t interfere in IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s trial, Oyogist reports.

The president made this known on Friday during a meeting monitored by our correspondent.

He met with Ohanaeze Ndigbo and various South-East leaders at the Ebonyi Government House in Abakaliki, the state capital.

While speaking, Buhari urged Igbo leaders to allow the court to decide the IPOB leader’s fate and other Igbo youths in detention across the country.

The President reiterated that interfering in Kanu’s trial will be unconstitutional and contravene the powers of the Judiciary.

He stated that Nnamdi Kanu is among the non-state actors in the South East that have continued to incite the people of the region against his government.

The President, however, expresses sadness over the unwarranted killings and worsening violence in the region which has claimed over hundreds of lives.

Recall that the Nigerian leader had said in November last year that the call for the unconditional release of Kanu is very heavy and difficult.
