Oyogist has learned that Manchester United’s Premier League fixture against Brighton is the latest to be postponed as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to cause havoc in the English top-flight.
The Red Devils have so far recorded at least 19 positive Covid-19 cases among their first-team squad and staff.
It becomes the fifth Premier League fixture to be called off in the last week, including United’s trip to Brentford which was scheduled for Tuesday.
Ralf Rangnick was reportedly due to have just seven first-team players available when positive coronavirus cases and injuries are taken into account.
A Man Utd statement read:
“Manchester United can confirm that our Premier League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion has been postponed and will be rescheduled in due course. The health of players and staff is our priority.
“Given the number of players and support staff having to isolate due to COVID-19, the club had no option other than to request the match be rearranged. The Premier League Board took the decision to postpone based on guidance from medical advisors.
