US President Joe Biden has reacted to the guilty verdict of former police officer Derek Chauvin in the trial of George Floyd murder case, OYOGist.com has gathered.
The jury in Minnesota on Tuesday found Derek Chauvin guilty on all counts in the murder of George Floyd that took place in public glare May 2020.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday after the judge delivered the guilty verdict on all three charges brought against the Minnesota police officer who killed George Floyd using an outlawed choke hold by placing his knee on his neck for close to 10 mins, Biden condemned the ex-cop’s act again.
He said, “the murder of George Floyd is a stain on the soul of “our nation” and a knee on the neck of justice for black Americans.”
President then revealed that he had spoken to the Governor of Minnesota to thank him and his team for the working together to bring justice and also called the family of George Floyd again.
Speaking further, the President praised the verdict but also admitted that much is still required to be done for civil justice to be achieved in America. “This can be a giant step forward in the march toward justice in America,” Biden said.
