Outspoken Chinese Billionaire Jack Ma has been suspiiously missing from public appearances for two months since criticising the government in Shanghai, OYOGist.com has gathered.
Several reports have speculated that his absence from the public might not be unconnected to his criticism of the President Xi Jinping-led government’s regulation system for stifling innovation.
The billionaire businessman had delivered the controversial speech in Shanghai on the 24th of October, 2020.
“Today’s financial system is the legacy of the industrial Age,” Jack Ma said in his speech.
Jack has skipped several public appearances and events he typically attends OYOGist.com has found, including a final episode of his own talent show, Africa’s Business Heroes, where he was initially billed to moderate.
Africa’s Business Heroes is Jack’s show that offers funding and mentorship to budding entrepreneurs. Winners get from a $1.5M fund.
The businessman has consistently contributed to the building of the African entrepreneurial climate, and Jack Ma was the first to make donations to Africa when COVID-19 first struck.
Many opinions have concluded that the billionaire’s disappearance is linked to his criticism of China’s system of regulations which Jack has criticized in his 24th October Speech.
