Breaking: IGP orders immediate deployment of SWAT operatives

According to report reaching oyogist.com, the Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, have reportedly ordered the immediate deployment of the recently trained Special Weapon and Tactical Team (SWAT), for routine patrols around the country.

The IGP gave the order which was addressed to the 17 assistant Inspector General of the Police force in a statement with reference number CH:5350/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.20/340 titled “Deployment of Newly Formed Special Weapon and Tactical Team operatives.”

According to the statement issued by the IGP he stated that, “The Inspector General of Police directs that all recently selected and trained Special Weapon and Tactical Team (SWAT) operatives are to be deployed for routine duties across areas of responsibility immediately.”

The Nigerian SWAT was inaugurated by the IGP, shortly after the disbandment of the FSARS division which formed the basis of a nation wide #Endsars protest that gained international recognition from various international media houses e.g CNN, BBC etc.
