OYOGist.com has learned that the federal minister of finance, budget and national planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed has reportedly said that the country would be exiting the current economic recession in the first quarter of 2021.

Mrs. Zainab made this known while addressing the ongoing recession at the 26th Nigerian Economic Summit organised by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group in partnership with the Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning.

“Nigeria is not alone in this, but I will say that Nigeria has outperformed all of these economies in terms of the record of a negative growth.”

It should be noted that Nigeria entered into its second recession in 5 years after the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) declined for the second consecutive quarter by 3.62% percent in the third quarter of 2020.

The minister also noted that the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration is already doing everything thing possible to get Nigeria out of its current economic predicament (recession).
