OYOGist.com has learned that Babajide Kolade Otitoju a veteran Journalist, while speaking on the Tuesday edition of the popular program “Journalist Hangout” on TVC news November 10, has reportedly said the former police chief, Solomon Arase, is saying the truth about the huge numbers of policemen attached to individuals in the country.

Babajide while speaking said; “It is true that over 200,000 policemen are guarding VIPs in Nigeria. Arase was a former IGP, and he has seen it all when he was in acting capacity, and even now that he has left the seat. He still has his own boys feeding him with correct information across the police force. In fact if you want to get information about a military formation, it is better to go through someone who has been a commander in that area before.”

“Let us analyze these numbers of police officers attached to VIPs, and the ramifications on the security architecture of Nigeria. Going by that number, then it is obvious that the remaining of us who don’t have money to get private security is in serious security risk.”

“Imagine an individual having more than 4 armed police officers to secure him, it is too much in a country where we are experiencing high rate of terrorism, and other security challenges.”

“Definitely, that is the main reason why police officers must run for their lives during the hoodlums attack on police stations, it shows they are never even enough to secure their own lives not to talk of the remaining citizens.”

“The government should swift into action by drastically reducing the police officers attached to individuals, and also recruit more men in the Nigeria police force.”
