Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly considering leaving Mesut Ozilout of his 25-man Premier League squad.
The Gunners must submit a final squad list to the Premier League by October 20 following the conclusion of the summer transfer window.
Competition rules dictate that there can be no more than 17 non-homegrown players in that 25-man squad, while Arsenal currently have 19 such players in their ranks following the deadline day arrival of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid.
Arteta will therefore be forced to leave two of those out of his squad, unless he sells them to lower-league clubs before the domestic window closes on October 16.
Goal reports that Ozil is one of the players who could be left out, meaning that he would be eligible to feature in the Premier League.
The former Germany international is the highest-paid player at the Emirates Stadium on £350,000 per week but is yet to feature this season and Arsenal had been keen to offload him during the summer window.
Ozil’s contract at Arsenal expires next summer and he will be free to discuss terms with foreign clubs from January
