OYOGist.com has learned that in a bid to ensure that APC Aspirants for Okigwe Zone senate bye-election are not stranded over much talked about consensus candidate in Imo, the factional State Chairman of the party in Imo, Hon Daniel Nwafor has at last given hope to almost stranded Aspirants by the adoption of what he termed direct primaries for all the Aspirants.
In a communique signed by Nwafor in his official capacity as the state Chairman of the party and the state publicity Secretary, after their meeting held at the party’s Secretariat Okigwe Road and made available to the media, the party adopted what they described as Direct Primaries for all the Aspirants.
In the said communique, the State Working committee used the forum to pass of confidence on the apex leader of the party and president of Nigeria, President Buhari as well as Dan Nwafor upon reviewing his actions and policies, since the assumption of office as chairman.
While admonishing Governor Uzodinma to do more in the area of uniting the party In Imo, the SWC pledged their unalloyed support and loyalty to Nwafor’s leadership in the State.
However, the recent communique raised by Nwafor led leadership, put a question mark to consensus clamor being championed by Nlemigbo led APC caretaker in the State.
APC caretaker led by Nlemigbo had a week ago, constituted a committee, to work out the modalities for the Consensus, as directed by Governor Hope Uzodinma.
Uzodinma, had in the bid to save cost for the Aspirants, as well as to ensure unity of the party in Imo and Okigwe Zone in particular, after the primaries slated for September 3rd.
Although the committee is yet to make official, the adopted consensus candidate, but information filtered that Frank Ibezim was adopted as the consensus candidate.
This adoption of Ibezim, which did not go down well with the Aspirants, resulted in Ten of them purchasing forms for the seat.
