Martinez haas been one of Arsenal’s standout stars for the last few months, stepping up to fill the boots of the then injured Bernd Leno.
The Argentine put on countless quality displays and played a key role in securing Arsenal’s latest FA Cup trophy earlier this month.
Martinez also put on a superb display on Saturday as Arsenal saw off Liverpool to secure the Community Shield.
However, the 27-year-old’s long-term future has since been called into doubt.
Martinez’s recent displays proved he is capable of playing regularly in the Premier League, with the player himself recently stating he would only stay in north London if he gets more games.
However, it did appear as though Mikel Arteta and co. were not looking to hand Martinez a regular starting berth once Leno was back fit, with recent reports even claiming the Gunners were ready to cash in on Martinez.
It was even claimed on Saturday that Aston Villa were preparing an offer for the shot-stopper.
However, the latest update surrounding Martinez’s future suggests he will not be departing the Gunners anytime soon.
Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is close to signing a new contract at the Emirates Stadium despite interest from Premier League rivals in offering a No.1 role.
It is added that the club want Martinez to stay and he is expected to get game time next season.
