Fans of Barcelona were shocked after their talisman requested a transfer move away from the Camp Nou. The Argentine has been the face of the club for over two decades but appears he’s set to part ways with the club, oyogist.com reports.

All came falling down since the club lost the La Liga title to Real and went ahead to crash out of the UEFA Champions League in embarrassing fashion.

It’s been reported that since the game, the captain hasn’t spoken to anyone at the club as he believes the team weren’t competitive this campaign.

According to Sky Sports, Lionel Messi failed to resume training and has sent the president Josep Bartomeu and the board a fax that he wants to leave this transfer window.

Apparently, there are only few clubs who can afford Lionel Messi wage bill.

He has been linked with a reunion with his former manager, Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Also, Paris Saint-Germain of France and Inter Milan in the Serie A are in touch with the player’s agent.

Although, Manchester City are leading the race to sign Messi after Sky Sports reported that he’s father landed in Manchester to have a meeting with the Etihad outfit ahead of a transfer.

According to the Argentine newspaper La Nación Lionel Messi has stated that his future lies away from FC Barcelona. He revealed he wants to move to Manchester City instead due to the manager influence and his football philosophy.

“I made the decision with Antonela [his wife] to leave Barça,” he is reported to have said. “It hurts my soul, but it’s done. This chapter has been closed.”

Meanwhile, Barcelona insisted that Messi still has another year on his deal with a release clause of £629million.

“I’m going to talk to Pep so that he can arrange for my arrival at City. The football there is spectacular and aligns to what I want,” he added.
