The Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North senatorial district has expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal government for choosing and locating Ultra-modern Diagnostic Centre at Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, Abia State, oyogist.com reports.
The Diagnostic Centre, according to reports, is the most modern and most equipped medical diagnostic center in the entire South East and South South regions of Nigeria. The center was built by the National Sovereign Wealth Investment Authority in collaboration with the Federal Medical Center Umuahia.
Thanking President Buhari and the management of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) for choosing and locating the Diagnostic Centre, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, a former Abia State governor said the “indeed, the infrastructure was provided at the right time”.
In a statement he personally signed, Kalu said; “It is a needed infrastructure provided at the right time. How can we have faith in staying healthy when we don’t have enough health facilities for our people?”
“Our health care system has suffered depreciation and deterioration over the years, affecting standard of living, and leading to loss of lives”.
“One of the lessons of the COVID-19 pandemic was the revelation and focus on our decrepit health care system- that a project like this seems to begin to address”.
“You have proven that infrastructural development is a key concern of your government as it would have an impact on improving social welfare in the state.”
“We, therefore, applaud and appreciate Your Excellency for this visionary project and for choosing Abia as a pilot state.”
“It is our earnest expectation that the era of medical tourism for our people in the South-East shall soon be viewed from the rearview mirror of history in this Presidency of President Mohammed Buhari with milestone projects like this.”
