OYOGist.com has learned that 33 years old Rasen Ball Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann has broken a Champions league record after his team qualified for the Champions league semi finals stage.
The former football star who retired after injuries hindered his playing career has lead his team to the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League semifinals at the age of 33 yrs and 21 days, an all time record of the youngest manager to make it that far.
They would now face Paris Saint Germain where he would face off with his former boss Thomas Tuchel who is the manager at PSG. Also, the German side RB Leipzig has also become the first German team ( aside from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund) to get that far in the competition since the 2010/11 Schalke 04 team.
RB Leipzig sold star striker Timo Werner to Chelsea this summer but do not look like a side missing the clinical striker as they dominate Diego Simeone’s side with ease. Julian Nagelsmann has not eliminated two defence minded managers, Jose Mourinho and Diego Simeone in the same season.
21 years old defender Dayot Upamecano put up a man of the match performance to shut out Atletico Madrid’s forward line throughout the contest in Portugal. Their next game would come on Tuesday next week against a strong Paris Saint Germain side and it promises to be an exiting battle between the two old pals ( Nagelsmann and Tuchel).
